There is a moment in a student’s life that is always difficult. As the end of our school life approaches, we must start thinking about our future. What will we do once we graduate? What are our options? These are some major concerns for Year 5 students as they enter the last stage of secondary education. Therefore, we asked a sample of people in this grade questions about their plans.
One of the key aspects we hoped to discover is whether they know what is next for them or not. After receiving answers for our survey, we could see lots of the students know what they will do after graduation, yet most of them are not sure yet. Still, they are on the right track of deciding. Our results also showed most students will continue their education after finishing high school.
Similarly, the answers for the nearer future showed excellent results. When questioned about next year, where they will have to decide a more specific orientation, none of them were completely lost. The most frequent answer was that they were sure of which path they will take in Year 6. Even those still wondering are reviewing their options.
This consideration about the future was also reflected in other replies. In questions regarding their past decisions, nearly all showed contemplation for the time ahead. The tendency among the sample was that the orientation and IB choices were made according to some sort of plan. The reasons behind the conclusions were varied, and everybody had their motives. However, they were generally based on interest and career prospects.
There are still many decisions to make and lots of things are left unknown. Nevertheless, the students in Year 5 are working to discover what they want to do next. As questions are answered and plans start forming, they get one step closer to reaching their goals. Fortunately, they have a lot of time left to figure everything out.
Whatever path you decide to take after school, we hope you excel at it and follow your passion, no matter what others tell you!
