Awareness and Celebrations: Global Health Month

Updated: Jun 4, 2021

For the month of June, the Awareness and Celebrations campaign has decided to focus on global health, an ever-present issue nowadays due to the ongoing pandemic.

COVID-19 has negatively impacted everyone - some more than others - disrupting our normal activities, halting economic growth, and, worst of all, taking the lives of millions of people. We wish to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate all of those who are bravely standing on the front lines and allowing the world to survive and prosper from these unfortunate events, such as healthcare workers and first responders, and to lament all of those we lost or have been impacted during this pandemic throughout the world, for even though you may not have been afflicted directly, as a global community we must come together in solidarity.

Even though it is by no means something we are thankful for, we must always look at the bright side of things. And that is just what Y5L student Victoria Coiran did: Victoria wished to encourage us all to consider the positive aspects of this pandemic, and to do that she prepared the poster you now see attached to this article. While preparing it, I was amazed to see just how broad an impact it had, from strengthening the global community to improving cancer research!

But the campaign does not stop there, for they have also decided to spread awareness about a significant organization the school has been working with for years: Fundación Pérez Scremini. To do so, Paula Pérez, a Y6L student, has decided to create a video for the school community to learn more about the foundation. We invite you to watch it down below, to stay healthy, and to always try and see the positive side of things.
