Uruguay’s Got Talent: Season 2

After four months of waiting, the Uruguayan version of Got Talent returned to the screen on April 12th. The world-famous talent competition started its local edition in 2020 and has now begun its second season with new contestants. The host, Natalia Oreiro, has returned, as well as the judges: Orlando Petinatti, Agustin Casanova, Claudia Fernández and María Noel Riccetto.

Due to the pandemic, special measures were taken to ensure everyone’s safety. A strict protocol was applied during the recording, which included preventive covid tests, careful management of studio capacity, and the change of microphones after each performance.

The show had announced its second season last September after it became one of the most-watched shows on local television. Since its premiere, Uruguay’s Got Talent has been at the top of the ratings published by the consulting firm Ibope Media. This year, fans across the country who awaited the show’s return, are excited for the new talents that we will see in this season.

The program will not change its format and will be just like what we have seen when the opera singer Diego Coronel was victorious. The auditions will be seen first, for which 4,000 Uruguayans signed up, and then 200 chosen ones will appear before the jury. After a second cut, the semifinalists will emerge, from which a final group will compete for the price.

We already got a glimpse of some of the talented competitors that will participate this season. Last week’s episode featured 10 original acts, showing a variety of talents and performances. These included Valentina’s cover of “Héroe” which moved the spectators and Nicolás’ song that made everybody dance. We also saw the first golden buzzer of the season as Enzo’s accordion blew the judges away. So far, the new season has not disappointed the audience and the new episodes had everyone waiting for more.
