Last Friday, the latest reboot for Batman was released and the reviews have been nothing but positive for the amazing screenplay. The movie stars Robert Pattison as the fellow superhero and Zoë Kravitz as the legendary Catwoman.
In the DC Universe, Bruce Wayne, a wealthy businessman and playboy, secretly creates the Batman persona seeking justice after watching his parents die at the hands of criminals. The Batman features the DC comics hero investigating a sadistic serial killer, known as the Riddler, that starts murdering important political figures in Gotham City.
Originally, the film was set to see Ben Affleck as Batman after signing to direct, produce and co-write it, but he did not agree with the outcome and dropped it. The actor has already been portrayed as the character in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and made a cameo in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

After almost a decade, Pattison was announced as his replacement and The Batman began filming in 2020. The Twilight actor stated: “I’d had Batman in my mind for a while”, hinting at his excitement for the role. The iconic multimillionaire Wayne has been previously played by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and, my personal favorite, Christian Bale <3 in The Dark Knight Trilogy that featured one of the late Heath Ledger’s final roles.
Furthermore, Kravitz has also commented on the duality of her character and how this proved as a challenge when impersonating Catwoman. The notorious seductive burglar was portrayed in former franchises by Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway.
The director, Matt Reeves, focuses on the psychological side of the corruption of Gotham and shows a new side to the hero: “He’s a very alive character, and to tell a version of Batman that wasn’t about how he became Batman, but the early days of being Batman…to see it in new ways, that was a way to do something that hasn’t been done.”
