When buying your daily skincare products or makeup for a night out, do you truly realize what is happening in order to create the product in front of you? Over 100.000 to 200.000 animals die each year due to cosmetics testing. It is because of this that many beauty companies have begun producing “cruelty-free” products. What does “cruelty-free” really mean? In short, it means that a product and its ingredients weren't tested on animals.
Many countries, such as all of the EU and South Korea, have banned practices in the cosmetics industry that pose a risk to animals, but others, as is the case with Uruguay, have not presented such aggressive stands, meaning it is up to the consumer to make a decision on the matter. For those looking for cruelty-free products and do not know where to start, here are some of the best options in the market:

Makeup Brands
Fenty Beauty
Cover Girl
Anastasia Beverly Hills
BareMinerals
KKW Beauty
Milk Makeup
Skincare
Acure Organics
Nourish Organic
Derma-E
Garnier
Alba Botanica

One of the brands that I highly recommend is e.l.f Cosmetics. The company recently partnered with Youtuber Jkissa and jointly created a custom eyeshadow palette named “To the Rescue Palette”.The palette has shades named after adopted dogs from the Angel City Pits dog pound or pups in Jkissa’s life. Amazingly, $15,000 was donated to Angel City Pits in LA in order to help Pitbulls.
Kylie Cosmetics relaunched their whole line into a new and improved cruelty-free and vegan version, reinforcing others to change their ways. This re-launch and their decision to not sell their products in China, where animal testing is required by law, jumped Kylie Jenner’s company to the forefront of the cruelty-free market. Jenner’s major influential role in society has potential for the rest of the market to follow her path.
