A few days ago, Star Wars fans celebrated their favourite franchise that launched for the first time in 1977 and was created by George Lucas. The inspiration for the date, May 4th, comes from the phrase: “May the Force be with you”, one of the most prominent lines said several times throughout the movies.
The movies are set in a “galaxy far, far away” that portrays the Force; an all-encompassing power that everyone possesses; the Jedi and the Sith, their antagonists. Most followers of the franchise choose to participate in a long marathon of its movies and TV series to honour the day and its unique characters. It would take 20 hours to only watch the nine main movies, so if you are interested in spending your weekend inside, this is a great challenge for you!
Star Wars has an extremely extensive list of characters and, even if you have not watched any of the movies or shows, you probably know several of their names, such as Hans Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Yoda, R2-D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi and, last but not least, Darth Vader. Star Wars Day is celebrated all over the world and acts as a commemoration to them and their fantastic stories!
