Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana

On November 5th, the newest Princess Diana movie starring Kristen Stewart will make its release in worldwide theatres. The film, titled Spencer, will follow the late princess through three days during the Christmas of 1991 which she spent with the Royal Family, right before her separation from Prince Charles.

Even if she did not begin from a wide base of knowledge, the Twilight star assured she did thorough research before entering the set. By reading several biographies and watching interviews, Stewart tried to really understand the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry as well as she could: "I watched The Crown, I watched every iteration of interpretation. I just tried to absorb her in an emotional and general way, and then trust the process, and expect her to show up."

Furthermore, the film is set in the royal country residence of Sandringham House in Norfolk, England, but was actually shot in Friedrichshof Palace in Germany. The Los Angeles-based actress described the movie as a "tumultuous tone poem that also felt really exuberant and wonderful and joyous".

Since Spencer will be focused on how the princess came to the decision to end her marriage, Jack Farthing was announced to play the role of the Prince of Wales and Diana’s husband earlier this year on March 26th.

After a lot of speculation from the public, the movie was confirmed to not tackle the sensitive topic of the princess’ death. Since it is set in 1991, it is way earlier than the 1997 Paris car accident that took her life. “She died years after where our story is set and so we don’t deal with that,” Larraín explained to Deadline.
