Colorado Woman Spends Summer Picking Trash

ree

Stefani Shamrowicz took a trip to help the environment during her month off her job. Shortly after Earth Day, she announced on Instagram that she will use this free time as an opportunity to “go on a voluntary road trip” to pick up trash.

Shamrowicz drove across the U.S., cleaning the streets of several cities, hoping to make our world a cleaner place. For 23 days, she collected trash from places all around the country, visiting Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. After 23 days of hard work, she picked up 126 bags of trash.

“About 80 percent is drinking bottles and face masks have been pretty common,” said Shamrowicz when asked about what she collected. “I’ve found a few fast-food toys and a tire with a pair of cowboy boots in it.”

For her mission, she created a GoFundMe campaign hoping to receive economic aid to support her journey. In the three first weeks it has been running, it only earned about $1,500. Shamrowicz used everything she had to pay for accommodation and gas while on the road.

To promote her campaign, she posted an Instagram video asking for help. “My name is Steph. I’m driving around the country and picking up trash,” she said. “If you want to donate $10, you’ll receive a whole trash bag. It feels great to send you your name and a picture of the city that helped clean it. About yourself and the country cleaner So please help me. “

Through her road trip, Stefani has collected from 1 to 16 bags at a time and lived through many experiences. At times, she has been discouraged, feeling her contributions were not good enough. However, she always stayed positive and remembered to do what she could.

Even after surpassing her goal, Shamrowicz continued picking up trash. This makes her an outstanding example of how small individual actions can have a big impact. Thanks to everyday heroes like Stefani, we can work together to make a difference.
