Classic Halloween Movies to Watch This Spooky Season

The Craft

The story follows Sarah, a teenager with telekinetic powers, as she starts her experience at a Los Angeles High School. After transferring, she tries to adjust to her new life. In the process, she meets a group of three aspiring witches, all of who find Sarah’s unique abilities fascinating. As they are lacking a fourth member to complete their rituals, the group of girls invites her to practice witchcraft with them.

Once they begin practicing spells, they discover the extent of their powers. This soon leads them to grow power-mad and their spells break havoc in the school. When things get out of control, the girl's friendship and morals will be put to the test.

This teen horror classic portrays the high school experience of an outcast with a magical twist. Through contrasting characters, who each have a complex background, the movie explores friendship dynamics and teenage angst.

Accompanied by a fitting alt-rock soundtrack, the aesthetic and settings make watchers feel as if they are a part of that witchy 90’s universe. This gives it a perfect Halloween feel, making it a perfect seasonal pick for anyone who dreamed of witchcraft and magic.

Scream

The movie focuses on Sidney Prescott as she and her friends start getting strange phone calls. They soon discover that behind calls lies a serial killer looking for revenge. Since the events occur on the anniversary of her mother’s murder, Sidney suspects the two events might be connected and fears she might be next. As dead bodies begin piling up over town, she must find a way to survive until the killer is caught.

In this 90's horror classic, director Wes Craven gives this genre a new and witty approach which will surely entertain many. Mixing just the right amount of fear and comedy, Scream perfectly revives the genre. The self-aware humor adds a new layer to the film that goes beyond senseless bloody violence.

These elements, which were very innovative at the time, make Scream such an enjoyable experience. If you are looking for a horror film that stands out from other slasher productions, you should give Scream a chance this Halloween.

Addams family

The movie follows the Addams family. More specifically after his lawyer decides to steal their fortune because he can’t pay his other client. In order to do this, the client pretends to be Gomez’s long-lost brother, and we get to see him trying to get his money while getting attached to the family.

This movie is soooo Iconic. It’s really funny and unique, but the family itself is what makes the movie so great. They are extremely weird and all the characters are unique in their own ways which makes the movie highly entertaining. Besides, Gomez and Morticia are just couple goals. There are also like four movies about this crazy family, so if you like this, you have a lot of content.

Hocus Pocus

The movie follows Max a teen who just moved to Salem with his family. One day he, his friend Allison and his sister Dani Explore an abandoned house and he accidentally resurrects witches after 300 years :). Now, these witches want to become immortal and the kids have to stop this only with the help of a magic cat.

The movie is simply iconic and a true Halloween classic. A lot of Halloween movies have been made since this one, but no one has been able to top it. Besides, it's entertaining for children as well as adults. The Halloween vibes are ~immaculate~, the characters are amazing (especially the witches), what more do you need in a Halloween movie?

Beetlejuice

The movie follows Adam and Barbara who… have died. They are trapped in their old house but a random family moves in and they fail massively when they try to scare them away. So they try to get some help and come across Betelgeuse who promises to help, but his help will put everyone in danger.

This movie is really good. It has a comedy aspect that makes it funny and fun to watch. It also has a very creative plot, I would even say it’s probably like nothing you’ve seen before, and it has a very creative take on what the afterlife might look like. Besides, it has really great acting.
