The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (Book)

This book is a historical fiction that tells the story of Evelyn Hugo, a fictional Hollywood star. At 79 years old she decides to tell the truth of her glamorous and scandalous life and gives one last interview with an unknown journalist Monique Grant. Her husband left her, and her professional life is going nowhere, so why did Evelyn Hugo pick her? Regardless, she is determined to use this opportunity to jump-start her career. The interview covers Evelyn's whole life - from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way.

This is a very Interestingly told book that has an amazing plot and all the characters and their relationships are also incredible. But what is really great is their evolution and getting to see them through time. Lastly, it's very well written so it’s definitely worth giving it a try.

Moonlight (Movie)

The movie follows Chiron, a young African-American boy, who has a troubled home and, while escaping from bullies, finds Juan. Juan is a drug dealer who teaches him to carve his own path and gives him a home with his girlfriend Therese to escape his problems at home. The movie looks at three defining chapters in Chiron's life - child, teenager, and adult - as he deals with his issues and tries to find himself.

It is a really good movie with a deep meaning, not just a random film you can have in the background. It is extremely well done, the cinematography is ~immaculate~ and the division of the movie in Chiron's three main life stages is really effective. As it shows you the characters from very young to adults, you can see their development and their growth which is what makes the movie memorable. It deals with many difficult topics like addiction, child neglect, bullying and being LGBTQ+ and unaccepted by others.

All American (Series)

This series is inspired by the true life story of NFL Superbowl Champion Spencer Paysinger, and follows Spencer James, a rising football player who changes school to a Beverly Hills school because his coach suggested it. However, he struggles to find his place in his new team who is threatened by his arrival. But it doesn’t only show his school life, it shows his life in his two families after transferring from Crenshaw to Beverly High. And the characters realize the deeper meaning behind their differences and what brings them together.

The series deals with many different relevant topics, such as social differences and racism, and still manages to have a very engaging storyline. It talks about the power of hard work and personal limits which could be really helpful for people struggling - especially in sports.

If We Were Villains (Book)

This novel is about Oliver Marks, a man who finished his 10 year sentence for a murder he may or may not have committed. On the day he's released, the detective of his case wants Oliver to tell him what really happened. So the novel takes place during his 4th and final year at the fictional Dellecher Shakespeare conservatory, an elite art school where he studied acting, when one day a student is found dead and all the other students have to convince the police they didn’t do it.

This book has all the dark academia vibes. It has a really nice aesthetic so if you’re into dark academia you'll definitely like this book. Besides, it is very intriguing and it will keep you at the edge of your seat till the end.

Demon Slayer (Series)

The series follows a young kind-hearted teen named Tanjirou Kamado in Taisho-era Japan, who begins a quest to fight demons and save his sister after finding his family killed and his sister turned into a demon.

This is an amazing series. It has a very nice animation and an interesting plot, so that on its own should be enough for you to watch it, but there's more to it. The world is very aesthetically pleasing and really interesting. Also, all the characters are very funny and have a tragic backstory which will get you attached very easily. Besides, it's short, so there’s really no excuse, if you like supernatural things, fantasy and action, then watch this series.
