They both die at the end (book)


They Both Die at the End is a young adult novel that focuses on two teenage boys, Mateo and Rufus, who discover that they only have one day left to live. It takes place in an alternate universe where a company calls you the day before you die because they know who is going to die every day, and on September 5, Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio received their call.


Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day so they both go on an app called 'Last Friend', and through it, Rufus and Mateo meet up to spend their last day together and make it the best they possibly could.


This is a cute, enjoyable romance novel that deals with the boys’ relationship with each other that is so genuine and wholesome and their loved ones. It questions life since both of them are living their last day on earth. It is a very emotional book and you’ll be guaranteed a good cry in the end and it shows how even at the worst times great things can happen.


I promise you won’t be able to drop this book until you’re done.



Scythe (book)


This book is the first one in the Arc of a Scythe series set in the far future where natural death has been conquered. This caused overpopulation and the way they found to control it was the Scythes. Scythes are commanded to kill people in order to keep the size of the population down. In the book, we follow Citra and Rowan who are chosen to apprentice to a scythe against their will. These teens must master the “art” of taking life because if they fail they could lose their own.


It's a very interesting and entertaining concept that has never been done before accompanied by amazing characters that are very well developed throughout the series. You really can’t ask for more, but you also get to see real-world problems and future scenarios from a unique perspective.

Soul (movie)


This movie follows Joe, a jazz musician whose life hasn’t gone quite as expected since he’s working in a middle school band. However, Joe finally gets his big break after years of hard work. It seems like life is taking a turn for the better when a wrong step takes him to the Great Before. There he tries to help an infant soul to find their true passion in order to return to reality and in the way he soon discovers what it means to have a soul.


This movie is simply fantastic. It’s an emotional movie that makes you reflect on life. It questions the purpose of life, who we are and what it means to enjoy life, what it means to have a soul. It is a very cute lighthearted movie that anyone in the family can enjoy. Besides, the animation is ~immaculate~ so even if the storyline doesn’t appeal to you, watch it solely for how good it looks.



A silent voice (movie)


“A Silent Voice'' is a 2016 Japanese animated teen psychological drama film, which deals with the complex issue of bullying. This beautiful and emotive production approaches the situation from a real and hard-hitting perspective that will make you think.


The movie follows Shoya Ishida who, after considering suicide, changes his mind at the last minute and decides to wrap up a loose end. As he remembers his past, we are introduced to his grade school days. Back then, Shoya bullied a new student in his class, a girl with impaired hearing. After she transfers to a new school Shoya never thinks of her again. Now, looking back and recognizing his mistakes, he sets out to make amends.


With spectacular animation, this film tells a moving story that will definitely warm the hearts of many viewers. Director Naoko Yamada addresses many delicate issues, including mental health and bullying, in a sensitive and original way. We recommend you take a look at this film and enjoy the emotional ride it will take you on.



Genius of the ancient world (series)


This show follows Historian Bettany Hughes as she travels to India, Greece, and China in the search for three great ancient philosophers: Buddha, Socrates, and Confucius.


This series is spectacular, it delves into the stories of 3 important figures of the past who left important legacies and marks in society. It opens the mind of the viewer as it helps them understand why cultures are a certain way, such as traditional Chinese, which are guided by Confucianism. The three episodes show and explain the story of these figures, it provides historians’ perspectives and practitioners of the Buddhist and Confucianist philosophies.



New Amsterdam (series)


After becoming the new medical director, Dr. Max Goodwin breaks the rules to restore the system of one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States. While the rest of the staff is not sure that he can make it, Dr. Goodwin won’t stop until he proves that he can reform the building’s neglected and outdated facilities, treat the patients with the best care and return the glory to his underappreciated hospital.


Based on Dr. Eric Manheimer’s book “Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital”, NBC’s new medical drama portrays the everyday life of a doctor, showing what they have to deal with. The performances are really good and you never know what case is going to cross the doors, which will always leave you wanting to watch another episode. Max’s passion and desire to give patients the best care possible will truly motivate you if your career path is medicine.


If you already finished “Grey’s Anatomy” and don’t know what to watch, this is definitely the pick for you. What are you waiting for?
