2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards: These Were the Stars of the Night

On Thursday, May 27, the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. With brilliant performances and big winners, many celebrated names got together to celebrate music in the event.
The Weeknd was the major winner of the night as he took home many trophies. Among them was the coveted male artist of the year. His song “Blinding Lights” received song of the year, and was voted by fans as TikTok bop of the year.
Similarly, Dua Lipa shone at the ceremony after being nominated in several categories and winning female artist of the year. By receiving this award, she beat other incredibly successful artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish.
A special presentation was created for Elton John, who was awarded the 2021 iHeartRadio Icon Award. This included a speech by Lil Nas X and Chris Martin in which they traded jokes and compliments with John. Afterward, H.E.R., Brandi Carlile, and Demi Lovato performed a medley as a tribute to the artist.
Other outstanding winners of the night were Taylor Swift, whose “Folklore” won pop album of the year, and Olivia Rodrigo, the rising artist that received the social star award. In addition, BTS fans got the group to new trophies in the socially-voted categories best fan army and best music video for “Dynamite”.
